Beginning in 1984, Alex Trebek was the face of Jeopardy! for nearly three decades. Fans tuned in on weekdays to watch Trebek drill the contestants. The game show became one of the most-watched in television history. Although there were multiple hosts throughout the show's 36 seasons, Alex Trebek was the most beloved of them all.

A winner of seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards, Trebek acquired plenty of impressive hardware during his career. In 2014, he even broke a world record.

Trebek was inducted into the Guinness World Records for hosting the most TV game show episodes: 6,289. The record was previously held by Bob Barker, host of The Price is Right. Trebek continued to host Jeopardy! for another six years after breaking the world record. An interesting behind-the-scenes fact of Jeopardy! is that they filmed multiple episodes within a day. Trebek would work two 12-hour workdays, switching his suits between filming new episodes.
