Retry Correct Incorrect As Far Out magazine reported, Kris Kristofferson gave “Me And Bobby McGee” to Roger Miller in 1969 before performing it himself the following year. However, neither version would make the impact that Janis Joplin’s did in the wake of her death in 1970. Her cover would be the second posthumous single in history to top the Billboard Hot 100.
