According to SecondHandSongs, John Ellison wrote “Some Kind Of Wonderful” for his R&B group, the Soul Brother Six, which peaked at number 97 on the U.S. Billboard list in 1967. However, it wasn’t until Grand Funk Railroad put it on their All The Girls In The World Beware!!! album in 1975 that the song reached number three and became one of the year’s biggest hits.
