Retry Correct Incorrect Although I Love Lucy is fondly remembered for Lucille Ball’s keen comedic timing, wacky antics, and her character’s passionate relationship with Ricky Ricardo, it’s easy to underestimate how innovative the show was. Co-star Desi Arnaz practically invented the multi-camera format for sitcoms, and Ball broke controversial new ground (for the time) by incorporating her real-life pregnancy into the show. Funnily enough, they weren’t actually allowed to use the word “pregnant.”
